Summer Slowdown
Sorry for the recent slowdown in articles.
Ian is in Europe, and I have been super busy with both work and non-work. I am sitting on a huge pile of articles that need to be edited, so good news is, once things calm down this weekend, we will be back in business.

The reporter didn’t seem to have the guts to say “Western white men,” although the link is “whiteman.cafe”
“So, can non caucasian western men work here?”
(cue sound of crickets)
Of course they insert a quick shot of 4 unsuspecting middle-aged dorks instead of showing fashionable Japanese men of the same age as the servers.

Surprised they didn’t mention host clubs. It’s just a cross between a host club, and a maid-kissa. Sure the white guy angle makes it CNNewsworthy, but considering the thousands of all-japanese staffed host clubs around the country, and just one whiteguy cafe in Tokyo, I think its clear by whom the majority of Japanese women would like to be served…

Only clear to people who are aware of that fact, which is probably close to 0 outside of Japan/Japanophiles. Badly produced segment.
Does CNN have a mandate to pick up some of the Waiwai slack?
